Another Sunny Saturday

After a rainy, stormy Friday evening the sun has returned for a Saturday in which I have much to accomplish and still some fun to to be had. Last evening was fantastic in that it was one of the more relaxing nights I've had around here in a few monthes. I enjoyed my specialty beef stroganoff and then capped it off with a few episodes of Law and Order, avoided an electric fire and rolled into bed around midnight. I feel quite recharged now and am ready to go knock out a few papers (wishful thinking) and then have a slightly more entertaining night this evening. It undoubtedly will be more action-packed because it kicks off with dinner at Pete's with Ben and Erin's return to South Carolina. The more I think about it, there is too much fun packed into this day to facilitate the writing of these papers, but I know I need to force myself into about an hour or two of that nonsense. Our brave Paladins seek out their third straight rugby national championship at noon and I have to catch Nick shrugging off doctor's orders to play on fractured heels...what a champion.
Next weekend promises even more thrills as it will bring about the big 21 for this guy. It then kicks off a fortnight of ridiculousness as the next weekend is the infamous Beach Weekend where Furman University decides to come alive for three days. Hopefully Jimmy will have better luck with the "double whammy" this time around. Also, as long as we are not housed in the Sea Gypsy, I think I'll be okay. That is followed by a sprint home on the weekend of the 13th to catch Carbon Leaf that night at Town Point Park in what WillBChap promises me is "BeerFest" weekend in Norfolk. This should be an opportunity to see some folks before I take off again for the last couple weeks of school and then a month on the emerald isle. So that is what is on tap here to go along with all the work and that nonsense of learning. There will surely be birthday updates after this weekend to share for everyone's enjoyment, but hopefully not to the extent of Adam's air guitar experience.

WCEN7206

Tuesday night. I've never been entirely sure what to think of this night. There's no good TV on until tomorrow night (South Park). You have yet to go at least halfway through the week also.

UFC

I have decided to rededicate my life to the pursuit of being a contender in the Ultimate Fighting Championship league. I think in a very primal, fight club sense I would enjoy being beaten bloody and returning the favor for a living. At least it would be far more enjoyable than whatever else I could be doing. I think this is a solid career choice for me. Consult http://www.ufc.tv for more details.

Hump Day...

I'm moving my Hump Day until tomorrow evening since that is when the gauntlet of tests, papers and other commitments will be over for at least a few days. Not to be a downer, I am celebrating fighting through all the work and coming out with practically a three day weekend to enjoy. Common sense would tell me to postpone writing this until after all these examinations are complete, but then again, procrastination is the whole reason I keep this thing up and running.

I received a postcard, written backwards of course, from my oldest friend Shelley who is currently globetrotting her way around Europe. My letter came from Moscow, Russia where she said she was housed about a block from the infamous Red Square. I had to hurry back to my apartment to find a mirror in which to read her Da Vinci-esque correspondence. As much as I enjoyed getting this classic form of mail that I appreciate more than email, I would like her to answer my email, ahem! That is no matter however. It indicates what I will announce here, that I will be spending my last week in the States before heading on my own international venture to Ireland in the lovely Johnson residence in Nags Head, North Carolina and all of you my dear readers are invited! (May 31-June 4) So, if you have the time, drop in whenever.

Speaking of the great state of North Carolina, THE University brought the National Championship back to its rightful home on the high-class end of Tobacco Road by defeating Illinois 75-70 Monday evening. It was a sweet, sweet ending to an awesome college basketball season made sweeter by the team that I grew up in love with (7 year veteran of Dean Smith's basketball school!) to take home the ultimate prize. Perhaps it was made just a teeny bit sweeter by the Coach K commercials running throughout the Final Four, but at that point, he and his team of hooligans was merely an afterthought.

So, its high time I got crackin' on all this here studying I need to get done. Things coming up in the world of me: meet the Woods family this weekend (hopefully not a rerun of Meet the Parents) and a couple days of relaxation/going out at least one good night. Maybe Drinky McStevens will return to claim back the title that is slipping from her grasp.
Only time will tell.
